For 25 years, RGISC has celebrated Dia del Rio with a variety of community events each October. This year, we had our Proclamation and river blessing with Laredo and Nuevo Laredo officials underneath International Bridge I.
We also carried out a Trail Work Day at the Paso del Indio Nature Trail with nearly 450 volunteers who helped to transplant native trees in the nursery, construct bird feeders, and mulch Laredo’s oldest nature trail at Laredo College.
We also held our 3rd Loving Laredo Paddle with 74 people + 1 dog (Timon Altgelt) that featured a paddle from the Max Mandel golf course to the Pico Water Treatment Plant. The paddle was led by Ben Masters, award-winning filmmaker of “The River and the Wall.”
