RGISC Earth Week - Day 5

Published on:
April 24, 2020

It’s Day 5 of our #RGISCEarthWeek micro-workshop series! Today we feature Dr. Tom Vaughan who will give us an overview of the Rio Grande in the Laredo region of South Texas. (5:04)

Click the video to learn where the river starts and ends, what makes it unique, and what are its most pressing challenges?

Dr. Vaughan co-founded RGISC in 1994 and helped establish the river monitoring program for the Laredo/Nuevo Laredo stretch with city and state agencies. The goal was to test river water upstream, at, and downstream of our binational community to better understand our impact to its water quality. RGISC has since conducted river sampling and monitoring each month for nearly 25 years.

DON’T FORGET! Watch today’s #RGISCEarthWeek micro-workshop videos and then post or send us a photo-sharing something you learned from the videos – be sure to USE #RGISCEarthWeek AND TAG US!! Everyone who sends in a photo will be entered in our contest to win cool prizes!
