In 2024, RGISC installed sensors in 19 locations in Laredo/Nuevo Laredo to measure air quality, and for 2025, we are launching groundbreaking initiatives, such as the restoration of a 40-acre riverfront gem known as Las Palmas Nature Trail and a schoolyard forest project at 8 local schools.

Additionally, our longstanding commitment to engaging the community with outdoor spaces continues through nature-centric programming such as Loving Laredo Hikes and Paddles and youth-focused STEAM nature programs such as Eco-Explorers and Rio Research Roundup.

RGISC aims to highlight how the choices we make today to conserve and celebrate our river ecosystem directly impact the survival of the river for future generations.
