Climate Cohort 2022

In Laredo’s first-ever climate cohort, the hard work and dedication of seventeen students culminated in the creation of Laredo’s first Climate Task Force after successfully petitioning the City Council and Planning & Zoning Commission. The cohort set the foundation for the next generation of Laredo leaders. The cohort focused on two innovative climate initiatives, resulting in the Climate Task Force: Solar-Ready Warehouses and Equitable Tree Canopy. Students advocated with community leaders and industry professionals to gain support, develop policy recommendations, and ensure that both initiatives addressed Laredo’s most urgent environmental and equity concerns, ultimately securing a unanimous vote.
