It’s Day 6 of our #RGISCEarthWeek micro-workshop series! Today’s line-up features an engaging PSA by RGISC members on plastic straws – what you should know – and a description of the city’s curbside recycling program.
Follow a conversation among friends at Lolita’s Bistro as they discuss the impacts of the single-use plastic straw on our environment, and how we throw away more than 500 million plastic straws in the United States, every single day. What are alternative solutions for sipping on water or your favorite beverage? Click and find out!
Next, we will hear from Sylvia J. Garza, city Recycling Coordinator, who will remind us of what items we can and can’t recycle. The Laredo curbside recycling program handles nearly 7,400 tons of recycled materials each year, which are sorted, baled and sent to buyers who will then convert those materials into new materials.
DON’T FORGET! Watch today’s #RGISCEarthWeek micro-workshop videos and then post or send us a photo of yourself stating something you learned or took away from the video in 10 words or less – be sure to USE #RGISCEarthWeek AND TAG US!! Everyone who sends in a photo will be entered in our contest to win cool prizes!
